blogruary day 3 - january 2012 favorites

Today I thought that I would share my favorite things of the month of January. These items include makeup, skin care, and random items.

Mac Oil Control Lotion - I have rediscovered this item. I used this everyday of January and it works as a nice primer.

Cold Cream - This is another rediscovered item that I started using again after adding it to my Project X Pan. This is great to remove both eye makeup and face makeup. This is one of the only products that I have found that doesn't irritate my eyes.

Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Sunset Peach and Peony - I absolutely love these lipglosses. These two colors remind me of spring.

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude - This is such a nice nude color. Not drying at all.

Revlon Eyelash Curler - This was a rediscovered item. I haven't used an lash curler in awhile, mainly because I always forget. This makes your lashes look really nice.

Hummus - This was my only new favorite. I have discovered the joy of hummus. I love the roasted red pepper flavor with pita chips.

Lipton Diet Green Tea w/ Citrus - Since I stopped drinking pop, I have replaced it with green tea and water. Love this flavor.

TV Shows - Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, Gossip Girl, House of Anubis, Vampire Diaries, and The Secret Circle (all shows that came back in January).

blogruary day 2 - groundhogs day

Happy Groundhogs Day. Phil saw his shadow this morning. According to folklore, Phil's sighting of his own shadow means there will be 6 more weeks of winter. If Phil had not seen his shadow, it would have meant there will be an early spring.

Personally, I do not believe in this folklore. How can a groundhog determine whether spring will come early or winter will continue for 6 more weeks? What's your opinion on this?

"Trusting a groundhog to predict the weather sounds like something only Luna Lovegood would believe." @Lord_Voldemort7 (on twitter)

blogruary day 1 - birthday gifts

Blogruary: blogging everyday in February!

I have decided since this is my birthday month, I will be (attempting) blogging everyday of this month!! I thought that for my first blog post, I would inform everyone of the items that I hope to receive this year. I try not to ask for anything unnecessary or crazy expensive. I try to ask for things that I would like to own but wouldn't really buy for myself.

Under $10: softlips lipbalm, blotting paper, mattifying nail polish, cell phone case, black socks, travel sized hairbrush

$10 - $15: pretty scarf, tank tops, cute headbands

Over $15: Mac 239 brush

If I were to get one expensive gift only, I would ask for the Tiffanys' Fleur de Lis Key Pendent ($300).

What are some things that you would love to receive for your birthday?

Project X Pan of 2012

Project Pan: it's basically when you go on a makeup buying strike until you've either hit pan or used up a certain number of products.

Rules (inspired by Amarixe on YouTube):
  • To add a product to my finished "Pan" list, I have to use up the entire thing, not just hit pan. I have to be removing it from my collection, since the whole point of this is to be downsizing.
  • Building from rule one, I have to be removing the product from my collection and not replacing it. Now for some products, I will have to replace them. For example, I usually only have one mascara and foundation. Once I use those up, I will need to repurchase them. So these items won't be counted toward my number of items used up.
  • I may slip up if I find something limited edition, one of a kind, and a product that I know I will regret passing up. I will probably just keep it in the box until I'm done with this project. Then it will be like a little reward for finishing!

The products that I have decided to start this project with:
  1. EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet
  2. Covergirl Invisible Concealer in fair
  3. Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
  4. N.Y.C. Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny
  5. Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Airy Fairy
  6. Covergirl Eye Enhancers Trio in Cafe Au Lait
  7. Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Medium Mauve

Blair Waldorf Vanity Table

Blair Waldorf Vanity Table from Gossip Girl

I'm a few years late, but I am officially obsessed with the show Gossip Girl. My favorite characters are Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass. I think that they are perfect for each other.

I absolutely love Blair Waldorf. I found this picture of her vanity table which contains some of her makeup and skin care products. I decided to try and identify the products on her vanity table.

Products (left to right):

Dior 5 Colour Eyeshadow ($59)
Dior Diorskin Forever Flawless Perfection Wear Makeup ($46)
Dior Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation ($62)
Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick ($32)
Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Pure ($17)

The products that I believe to be in the photo may not be exact. I could not find any blog or article that mentioned the makeup or skin care the character Blair used on the show. I based the listed products above on what they looked like in the photo. If you have any suggestions to what each particular product is, let me know! I will try and update this every now and then with new products that I discover.

I hope this helps any Blair lovers out there.

XOXO
