Currently Coveting - Baby Pink & Glowy Skin (Featuring Illamasca, YSL, Hourglass, Mac, & Dior)

Hello beautiful people.

Today I decided to share a few of the beauty products that I've been coveting! The "Currently Coveting" idea was borrowed from one of my favorite bloggers - Cocoa & Pearls. Her blog is amazing and I highly recommend it!

These products are both mid-end  and high-end beauty products that are items that I would love to splurge on.

The theme is baby pink & glowy skin.

Christmas Makeup Wish List 2013

Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Katie - I've heard some amazing things about this blush. It looks like the perfect baby pink color. I've heard that this is the better version of Mac's powder blush in Well Dressed.

YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in #7 Lingerie Pink - So many people on YouTube have raved about these lipsticks. After swatching them at Sephora, I would love to add one of these gorgeously packaged lipsticks to my collection.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette - I've heard that these powders are beautiful. When I saw that they have a limited edition palette of three powders, I fell in love! These babies are expensive, however you get to try out three different shades for a little more than the price of one full sized product. Great way to dip your toes into an Hourglass product.

Mac Mineralized Moisture SPF 15 Foundation - I've been interested in this product since it first came out. I love Mac foundations and I want to try out more. I haven't heard much about this product in the YouTube beauty community or in the blogs that I follow.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer - I've heard that this product is amazing for the undereyes. My only concern is the color range since I'm so pale. I am usually unable to find a concealer that is a shade or two lighter than my skintone to use in my undereye area.

Dior Addict Gloss in #553 Princess - I've heard that these lipglosses are wonderful. This would be a great luxury item to pair with the YSL lipstick!

Those are the items that I've been eyeing for a while! I'd love to know some of the products that you would love to own!!

XOXO

Life Update

I started this blog a while ago to share some of my interests. Throughout that time, I've rarely divulged in my personal life. Mainly because not many people read this, but also because it is easier to talk about beauty and fashion.

This news is too exciting not to mention. Even if it is just me writing the words down and only a handful of people to read. Or none. I never know with my blog.

I've mentioned in the past offhandedly that I have been in nursing school. This has been one of the main reasons why there are so many gaps between my postings. Which I apologize for to any of the few who do read what I have to say.

I graduated in August of this year. So exciting! I was so relieved to be out of school and have my degree. Nursing school was not a walk in the park! But only half of my battle was nursing school. The other half - the hell that comes after graduation, the reason for the headaches and cries that arise from fresh nursing graduates, the cause of numerous breakdowns and need for a drink of alcohol - the dreaded NCLEX (or more commonly known as the nursing boards).

Studying for the nursing boards made me loose all of my confidence, my life, my money on advil, my sleep, and increased my stress level tremendously.

Nursing school is a commitment. Studying for the nursing boards is a commitment. There were numerous opportunities with friends and family that I had to miss out on in order to become a nurse.

All of that hard work officially paid off on October 18, 2013 when I found out that I passed my boards!!

My next hardship is finding a job and securing said job. I feel that I am so close to my dream and I can not wait to start working as a nurse. I will be terrified being the "new girl" again, however I have persevered and will not give up.

Dreams can come true with faith, luck, and a lot of hard work! Never give up on something that you want with all of your heart. It does not matter how long it may take you or how many obstacles you may encounter. Once you have accomplished your dream and overcome all of the obstacles, you will triumph.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

I've been a fan of Urban Decay eyeshadow for a few years now. I am obsessed with my Urban Decay Naked 1&2 palettes. I use them 90% of the time I wear makeup.

I had mixed opinions when the Naked Basics palette was released. I thought the shades would be too similar to the other two palettes I own. I bought the palette after hearing so many people praising the palette.

I've decided that this palette is not my favorite and too similar to the Naked 1&2 palettes. If you already have those palettes, I would not recommend purchasing. If you don't have the Naked 1&2 palettes, I would suggest that you save your money and purchase either the first or second Naked palette depending on which shades and tones you prefer. If the first three shades weren't almost identical, I think that this would be an amazing palette for the price.

The Naked Basics palette features six neutral shades for $27.

Left to right: Venus, Foxy, Walk of Shame, Naked 2, Faint, Crave

Swatches left to right: Venus, Foxy, Walk of Shame, Naked 2, Faint, Crave

Although these aren't dupes, I found some similar shades in my collection to the eyeshadows found in the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette.

Left to right: Venus (UD Naked Basics), Bootycall (UD Naked 2), Virgin (UD Naked), Browbone color (Wet N Wild Walking on Eggshells), Sellout (UD single eyeshadow)

Left to right: Naked 2 (UD Naked Basics), Tease (UD Naked 2), Naked (UD Naked)

Left to right: Faint (UD Naked Basics), Buck (UD Naked), Deep Bronze (NYX)

Left to right: Crave (UD Naked Basics), Blackout (UD Naked 2), Creep (UD Naked)

After giving this palette a try, I will be returning it to my local ULTA store. These eyeshadows weren't as unique as I had hoped after hearing so many good things about this palette. This may be a great palette if you are a beginner, however the similarities between the first three shades holds me back from recommending it.

What are your opinions on the newest addition to the Urban Decay Naked family?

XOXO

My New Mac Palette (+ Mac Pro Products Price Decrease!)

Update: Recent Additions to My Mac Palette --> click here.

I've wanted a Mac palette for years, however I've always held back because of the price. When I first heard about the new pro palettes Mac released, I was very disappointed because I had my eye on the older versions for so long. They became unavailable and the new ones were the only version that I could buy. I waited a few months before finally buying one. The push that helped me finally buy one is the new prices! Which are permanent, according to my local Mac Pro store.

This information I found on Nouveau Cheap a few days ago. Here are the new prices:

Pro palette large/duo: $8 originally $25
Pro palette large/single: $8 originally $18
Pro palette eyeshadow x2: $5 originally $9
Pro palette eyeshadow x4: $8 originally $15
Pro palette eyeshadow x15 (insert): $2 originally $9
Pro palette blush x6 (insert): $2 originally $9

I purchased the large/single palette with the 15 eyeshadow inserts. I love the look and appreciate the price decrease! I saved $17.

I also decided to pick up some eyeshadows to start filling my new palette. I bought Nylon and Handwritten which are two shades I've had my eye on for the past couple of months. I can't wait to wear them! The Mac Pro eyeshadow pans prices were decreased as well ($10 originally $12.50). I saved $5.

In total I saved: $22.
I would have paid $52 rather than the $30 I paid for these products.

I look forward to using my new eyeshadows and continuing to add eyeshadows to my brand new palette. I have 2 single Mac eyeshadows that I plan to depot and put in my palette.

What are some Mac shades that you would recommend?
