Today the Shop MAC, Cook MAC collection and the Vera collection came out in stores. I've seen pictures on blogs and the MAC website, however I wanted to wait and see the collections in person. Since my birthday is tomorrow, I decided to get my makeup done by MAC. I had my appointment at 2 pm. Normally I wouldn't get my makeup done at a makeup counter because they usually recommend that you buy $50 or more worth of merchandise. I was planning to buy some things soon anyway so I figured it was worth it even if I didn't like anything from the new collections.
My experience:
The MUA that did my makeup was very nice. However, I think that I do my makeup better than she does. When I get my makeup done at a counter, I expect something that I either would never do or can't do on myself. The look she did on me was very plain in my opinion even though it was more colorful than my usual looks.
The products she used:
Oil control lotion
Studio moisture cream
Pro longwear concealer in NW 15
Studio careblend pressed powder in light
Powder blush in melba
Painterly paintpot
Shop & drop eye shadow quad
Eye shadow in kid
Eye shadow in omega & charcoal brown (brows)
Clear brow set
Technakohl liner in graphblack
Opulash
Lipstick in pink nouveau
Cremesheen glass in fashion scoop
Mineralize charged water
What I bought:
Shop & drop eye shadow quad
Lipstick in pink nouveau
Will I be returning or keeping:
I'm not positive about the lipstick, but I will be returning the eye shadow quad.
My final thoughts:
After seeing the products on blogs and in person, I wasn't very interested in anything. However, I got talked into buying the limited edition quad because the MUA was raving about it. I planned to get a brush or two that I had my eye on if I didn't like anything. I wasn't really able to look at anything else before/after/during this experience. While it wasn't busy at my counter, my MUA assumed that I would buy the items that she put on me. While the experience wasn't terrible, it wasn't up to my standards. I won't be getting my makeup done again and I will be picking out my makeup based upon my decisions not others influences. Lesson learned.
XOXO
